GuoHua Wind Farm
The GuoHua wind farm consists of the installation and operation of 33 domestically produced wind turbines with an individual capacity of 1,500 kW, with a total installed capacity of 49.5 MW. The project’s effective operating hours amount to 2,323 hours per year, and the expected net annual power supply to the grid is 115 million kWh. The project results in annual emission reductions of approximately 125,405 metric tonnes CO2equivalent annually.
The main objective of the projects is to generate power from clean renewable wind power in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and contribute to the sustainability of power generation of the Northeast China Grid. The project will reduce greenhouse gas emissions through the displacement of mainly fossil fuel-based, grid-connected power generation.
Sustainable Development Benefits
This project’s contributions to sustainable development include: reducing the dependence on exhaustible fossil fuels for power generation, minimizing the adverse impacts on health from air pollution, reducing the impacts of greenhouse gases to combat global climate change, and contributing to local economic development through employment creation. The proposed project activity is the first application in China of the domestically produced FD70 turbine. The construction team and staff of the project entity received training in the operation of the wind farm.
Project Participants
This project is a collaborative effort between Guohua Wind Farm Co., Ltd. and Mitsui & Co., Ltd.
Validation and Verification
The project’s emissions reductions are validated and verified under the Verified Carbon Standard.
Financial Additionality
The project demonstrates financial additionality according to UNFCCC definitions.
